The Seattle Building Boom Continues in 2017

You can look anywhere in Seattle and see construction cranes lining the horizon, which is a great sign of things to come. Below is a list of 6 current projects that could mean a total of 1,677 new residential units.  Of the 6, they are all condominiums, with one possibly slated to be apartments.  The developer of 8th Ave & Columbia St has not decided if they will be condos at this point.

Per a recent Puget Sound Business Journal article, the buildings will range from six to 40 stories, and all but one of the developers are from China or Canada.  Downtown Seattle will see five new projects with the other two in University Village and Bellevue.

Current projects:

NEXUS

    • Downtown Seattle
    • Developer: Burrard Group/Canada
    • 40 stories
    • 374 units

1631 2nd Ave

    • Downtown Seattle
    • Developer: Create World America/Hong Kong
    • 40 stories
    • 266 units

8th & Columbia

    • First Hill
    • Developer: Daniel’s Real Estate of Seattle
    • 30 stories
    • 287 units

One 88

    • Developer: Bosa/Canada
    • 21 stories
    • 143 units

U Place

    • University Village area
    • Developer: ZQH/China
    • 6 stories
    • 244 units

Elev8

    • Bellevue
    • Developer: Plus Investment USA/Hong Kong
    • Four 40 story towers (condo, apartment, hotel, office)
    • 355 condominium units

The building boom was bigger nine years ago when there were 3,765 units under construction in the Seattle area, but with strong employment and a shortage of inventory, these new units won’t last long.
